Hawthorn defender Josh Morris is set to make his return to football through the VFL this long weekend after recovering from a shoulder injury.
It comes after Morris managed six games for the Hawks at the top level last year, earning the call-up off the back of a strong patch of form for Box Hill.
But the 20-year-old unfortunately injured his shoulder in Round 20 of last year against St Kilda, and later required a shoulder reconstruction.
Hawthorn's High Performance Manager Peter Burge said Morris resumed full contract training last week and is set to return via Box Hill's curtain raiser ahead of Hawthorn's clash with Geelong on Monday.
"Josh is now in his second week of full contact skills this week," Burge said.
"That means he'll be available on Monday playing in the VFL - he'll play most of the game, close to a full game.
"He's done a huge amount of conditioning, so he's ready to play a decent amount of game time straight up which is great for him, he's really excited about playing next week."
In other injury news, Chad Wingard (calf) will resume full training this week.
"Last Tuesday we spoke about Chad being a probable to play, and at that stage we felt he would be," Burge said.
"He participated in our main training session on Thursday and about three-quarters through the session - there was no incident, nothing happened - but he just spoke to us and said he didn't feel 100 per cent confident in our high-intensity match simulation.
"He's an experienced player and he knows his body, so we take that on board and it was an easy decision in the end.
"He is due to train tomorrow and participate in our full session this Friday. All that going well, he will then be available to play on Monday.
"But we've got some sessions to do first and we'll be able to confirm that later in the week."
