Last time we met

Sydney (118) defeated Hawthorn (37) in Round 2, 2023

Hawthorn was outclassed by Sydney at the SCG when these two teams last met, with the Swans securing a dominant 81-point victory.

While the Hawks struggled around the ground, their midfield stood up, winning the clearances 35-27.

Will Day won seven of those clearances on his own to go with his 26 disposals while James Worpel had 22 touches to complement his six clearances.

Skipper James Sicily was the shining light in what was a difficult day for the defenders, recording 25 disposals.

Our last game

North Melbourne (68) defeated by Hawthorn (113)

Hawthorn recorded its first win of the season against North Melbourne last Sunday at Marvel Stadium.

After a slow start, the Hawks piled on nine consecutive goals to record a comprehensive 45-point victory.

Dylan Moore was the standout Hawk on the day with four goals from his 20 disposals.

Conor Nash and Jai Newcombe also combined well in the midfield with 32 disposals each.

What's on?

Headlining a big day at the MCG will be none other than Hawthorn great Lance 'Buddy' Franklin.

Be in your seats at half-time as Buddy is interviewed on the big screen!

To commemorate the AFL's ANZAC Appeal Round, the Hawks will proudly don their 2024 ANZAC Guernsey.

This year's guernsey maintains Hawthorn's traditional brown and gold stripes and features the site where the ANZACs landed in World War 1: Anzac Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey.

The LEST WE FORGET message and symbolic poppies also feature throughout.

The club will also hold an ANZAC ceremony where the MCG will come to a standstill at the beginning of the ceremony at approximately 3.54pm.

This means that entry into the venue and shops for food and drink will all be paused as soon as the ceremony begins, with proceedings to recommence at the start of the National Anthem at approximately 3.58pm.

Also be sure to keep your eye on the team running out, as several veterans will form part of the club's Guard of Honour.

If you're at the ground nice and early, you might be able to catch a glimpse of a couple of clinics - one celebrating the club's valued Foundation donors and another involving current and future AFL Blind stars, including Hawthorn premiership captain Ned Brewer Maiga.

Both clinics will begin on the ground at approximately 1.40pm.
