Last time we met

Hawthorn (52) defeated by Carlton (112) in Round 16, 2023.

Hawthorn were bested by the Blues in their last clash in Round 16 of 2023, going down by 60 points.

The Hawks first goal of the game came in the fifth minute of the third term through Mitch Lewis, who finished with two for the afternoon. Luke Breust and Fergus Greene also managed two majors.

Among the Hawks best were Will Day (537 metres gained, 26 disposals and four clearances), Josh Ward (game-high 28 disposals and four clearances) and James Worpel (26 disposals and four clearances).

Our last game

Hawthorn (82) defeated by GWS Giants (84), Round 21, 2024.

Hawthorn led the Giants from the get-go, dominating the first three terms and forcing the Giants into a slow ball game.

The likes of Sam Frost and Blake Hardwick were everywhere in defence, regularly deflecting or intercepting inside 50 as a result of the disciplined defensive set-up.

The Hawks led by as much as 28 points, but the Giants’ seven-goal final quarter allowed them the win.

Hawthorn's outside run was game-breaking, with Josh Weddle (14 disposals, one goal) and Massimo D'Ambrosio (22 disposals, two goals) the architects, while Jai Newcombe (30 disposals, 11 clearances) was in total control at stoppages.

Veteran Jack Gunston finished with four goals, while D’Ambrosio and Mabior Chol managed two.
