Hawthorn has secured a pair of future draft selections after agreeing to terms on a pick swap with Carlton on day five of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
The deal sees the Hawks gain a future first-round selection (2025) and a future second-round selection (2025), in exchange for the club’s 2024 first-round pick (No.14).
Hawthorn National Recruiting and List Manager Mark McKenzie said the deal puts the club in a strong position.
“We were always open to seeing what the market was for our first-round pick this year, and to be able to increase our draft assets as a result of this trade is a great outcome,” McKenzie said.
“With an additional draft selection up our sleeve, it now gives us greater flexibility as we progress through the trade period.”
