Hawthorn has informed small forward Josh Bennetts that he will not be offered a contract for the 2025 AFL season.

The 20-year-old arrived at the Hawks as a Category B Rookie in 2022 and was unable to break through for a senior debut during his time at the club.

Across his two years in the brown and gold, the Next Generation Academy graduate played 33 games for Box Hill, before being struck down by a long-term shoulder injury in 2024.

Hawthorn National Recruiting and List Manager Mark McKenzie acknowledged Bennetts for his contribution to the club.

“Josh was a much-loved teammate who showed great character and dedication during his time at Hawthorn,” McKenzie said.

“On behalf of the club, I’d like to thank Josh for his service to Hawthorn and wish him well in his next chapter.”
