New Hawk Jaime Uhr-Henry is excited about his future in brown and gold, having already had a taste of the club’s high-performance environment earlier this year.

The Category B Rookie signing and lifelong Hawthorn supporter thrived on an opportunity to train with the Hawks earlier this year ahead of putting pen to paper.

“Coming here has been really amazing,” Uhr-Henry said.

“Everyone’s taken me under their wing.

“I’m still learning at the moment but I know everyone’s trying to help me be the best player I can be.”

Having grown up playing basketball since he was four years old, the 209cm product said the Hawks helped him develop the confidence to cross to football.

“I never really had the confidence to change to football without a bit of people behind me backing me in,” Uhr-Henry said.

“I’ve had a few people in my corner at Hawthorn who really gave me an opportunity and said I could be something.

“With their backing, it gave me a bit of promise to go and chase football.”

Having played one season of Aussie Rules for Chirnside Park at the U17 level, Uhr-Henry is hoping to continue his development under the tutelage of Sam Mitchell in 2025.

“We’re an exciting bunch so I just want to create a contest and influence where I can,” he said

“I’m really excited for the future and where this club’s headed.”
