Five Hawks caught the eyes of the coaches following Thursday night's 20-point win over Carlton at the MCG. 

The coaches judged midfielder Jai Newcombe and defender Josh Battle as the best players on the ground, with both Hawks receiving nine votes each.

Newcombe was at his bullocking best in Hawthorn's engine room, amassing a game-high 32 disposals to go with a team-high 11 tackles and nine clearances.

Meanwhile Battle played an important role on dangerous Carlton forward Charlie Curnow, nullifying his impact while also recording 21 disposals, nine intercept possessions and five marks himself. 

Massimo D'Ambrosio and Blake Hardwick were ranked next best by the coaches with two votes each. 

D'Ambrosio dazzled with THAT kick in the fourth quarter, while also tallying 25 disposals, four marks and four tackles.

Hardwick was his versatile self at the 'G, kicking two majors to complement his 13 disposals and five marks. 

Key forward Mabior Chol was the fifth Hawk to receive coaches' votes, tallying one for his three goals, 11 disposals and four marks.
