Hawthorn Football Club wishes to advise the sad passing of premiership player and Life Member, Ken Beck.

Beck arrived at Hawthorn as a 15-year-old in 1956 and played in the Hawthorn Thirds (Under 19), Fourths (Under 17), Hawthorn City and Reserves sides before making a senior debut at the age of 21 in Round 12,1962.

Eleven seasons later, in 1971, Beck became a premiership player, coming off the bench at the 10-minute mark of the grand final to help the Hawks to a seven-point victory over the Saints.

1972 was Beck’s last season in the brown and gold, during which he captained the Reserves to a premiership.

Beck later returned to Hawthorn as an active member of the Past Players & Officials Association in 1987 and was PPOA President for 11 years.

The club extends its condolences to Beck’s family and friends at this difficult time.
