HAWTHORN youngster Kaiden Brand will miss the next 4-5 months after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction.
The promising key defender dislocated his shoulder in the opening term of last Thursday night's NAB Challenge loss to Collingwood.
Brand left the field immediately cradling his arm and didn't return to the field.
Yet to make his AFL debut, Brand is among Hawthorn's up-and-coming group of youngster who impressed for VFL affiliate Box Hill last year.
Drafted as a key position prospect who can play at either end of the ground, Brand has spent most of his time at the Hawks as a defender.
He was taken with pick number 66 overall in the 2012 national draft.
