In a day of rain, wind and generally unfavourable conditions Hawthorn’s contested ball winners stood up in their team’s three-point victory over Casey.
The wet weather meant clean possessions were few and far between.
Some players relish these conditions and that was certainly the case for small forward Jordan Membrey.
Membrey was in her element creating marking contests and laying tackles at every opportunity helping her side get across the line against the Demons.
“Jordan was a very valuable contributor on the weekend providing a vital link between the midfield and forward line,” said coach Paddy Hill.
“She was incredibly strong in the contests and her contested marking was invaluable.
“Jordan has 12 possessions, took four marks and had six inside 50 entries to go with her nine tackles.”
It’s the second time Membrey has been named in the best this season having joined the Hawks from Collingwood’s AFLW side.
