Hawthorn VFLW will kick off its 2019 campaign against NT Thunder this Sunday.
This time last year, the Hawks were looking to rebound from a disappointing three-win season in 2017.
But, fast forward 12 months, and Patrick Hill’s side is now the one in every team’s sights as the reigning premiers.
The Hawks were too good for the Thunder in the sides’ sole encounter last year, with the brown and gold winning by 25 points at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
Newly-appointed captain Tamara Luke will lead the team for the first time, supported by two vice-captains Lou Wotton and Rosie Dillon.
Another player to watch is recruit Talia Radan, a competitive and athletic key defender with AFLW experience.
Hawthorn’s match against the Thunder will take place this Sunday May 12 at Box Hill City Oval at 11.30am.
The Box Hill Hawks will have a tough challenge on their hands when they face Footscray on Sunday.
In what will be a curtain raiser to the senior side’s clash with GWS, the third-placed Hawks will do battle with the fourth-placed Bulldogs.
Before its bye last week, Box Hill had won three of its opening four games.
But the Hawks are yet to face any side in the current top eight, with their match-up with the Dogs set to be their biggest assignment to date.
Jarryd Roughead is sure to drag people through the turnstiles as he pulls on the Box Hill jumper this weekend after being omitted from the senior side.
The Hawks will host Footscray at the MCG this Sunday at 11.50am.
