The Hawks were unable to break their recent hoodoo against the Brisbane Lions going down to the home side at the Gabba by 19 points on Saturday night.
Hawthorn were unable to hold onto a five-goal opening quarter lead, allowing the young Lions to creep back in slowly across the game.
With seven points the difference heading into the final term, a three goal to one fourth quarter ensured the win for the Lions.
Worpel was the leading disposal winner for the Hawks with 25 possessions, O’Meara applied 11 tackles and Sicily was strong down back with nine marks to his name.

Box Hill made it two from two at Saturday’s double header at Box Hill City Oval defeating Williamstown by 20 points.
The Hawks had a strong opening quarter kicking three goals to Williamstown’s one, but the Hawks let the Seagulls back in in the second quarter when they conceded four goals.
Inaccuracy plagued the Hawks, particularly in the third term where Box Hill added three goals and five points for the quarter.
Ned Reeves and Jarryd Roughead did an excellent job sharing the ruck load in Marc Pittonet’s absence, winning the hit outs 57-31.
Luke Meadows lead the disposal tally for the Hawks with 27 possessions and the Hawks had eight individual goal scorers, with Teia Miles and Jackson Ross contributing two goals each.
Ross has kicked 19 goals so far this season and is leading the competition’s goal kicking.

VFLW
Hawthorn’s VFLW side recorded their second win for the season defeating a gallant Williamstown by nine points at Box Hill City Oval on Saturday morning.
It was a scrappy and contested game and even though it didn’t rain on the day, the downpours during the week meant the ground was wet underfoot and caused lots of fumbles.
The Hawks were unable to capitalise on their opportunities up forward scoring four goals from their 15 scoring shots.
Pepa Randall played an excellent game in defence keeping opponent Moana Hope to a single goal and her GWS teammate Rebecca Beeson was the only multiple goal scorer for the Hawks kicking two goals from set shots.

Netball
Hawks Netball Club played the City West Falcons in Round 10 of the Bupa Victorian Netball League.
Once again the club came away with one win from their three matches, however this week it was the Division 1 side who were victorious beating the Falcons by seven goals.
The Championship and Under 19 sides both suffered defeats with Championship going down 36-63 and the Under 19s lost by 22 goals, 33-55.

Wheelchair
It was a tough day for Hawthorn when they came up against St Kilda in Round 3 of the Victorian Wheelchair Football League.
The Saints have the competition’s leading scorer Ryan Smith who was unstoppable up forward scoring 14 goals on his own.
For the Hawks, Ryan Scown was able to put through three majors, however it wasn’t enough with the Hawks going down by 86 points.
