Adelaide has been widely touted as being one of the most improved sides in 2019.
After missing finals the year after playing off in a grand final, the potency of the Crows hasn’t been forgotten by the football world.
Set with the task of taking on Adelaide at Adelaide Oval in Round 1, the Hawks will have their work cut out as they clash with a determined Crows outfit.
But Hawthorn would be buoyed by its favourable record in Crows territory.

Hawthorn owns the best record of any opposition club when taking on Don Pyke’s men at the venue.
Alastair Clarkson has led his men to Adelaide Oval to take on the Crows three times and all three times the Hawks have returned victorious.
Sydney and Melbourne also have winning records at the ground, but both have experienced losses in their three and four visits respectively.
At the other end of the spectrum, North Melbourne and St Kilda seem to despise going to Adelaide Oval to clash with the Crows.
North Melbourne have been unsuccessful on five attempts while the Saints have had similar levels of fortune from their four goes.
Luke Breust has been a notable Hawk performer at the venue, kicking six goals from his three appearances there against the Crows while, in his former home state, Shaun Burgoyne has averaged 22.3 disposals, 5.3 tackles and 1.3 goals.
