Shaun Burgoyne
Shaun Burgoyne delivered a typical Shaun Burgoyne game against Geelong last weekend. The 35-year old had 20 touches, five marks, 13 tackles and seven clearances as he influenced the Hawks’ game in multiple aspects. Despite having an injury-interrupted season, Burgoyne has been in strong form in 2018 and, with finals imminent, Hawks fans will expect to see Silk go to another level again over the coming weeks.
Luke Breust
Luke Breust has relished playing at Etihad Stadium this year. Over his four appearances at the venue this season, he has averaged 16.5 disposals and four goals a game, including a bag of six goals and two hauls of five. Despite the Coleman Medal being quite possibly out of reach, Breust is just four goals away from registering his most successful home and away season and eight away from his best season haul ever.
Jade Gresham
Jade Gresham has emerged this year as potential A-grade talent. In his third season, Gresham has been outstanding, averaging 17.2 disposals and 1.7 goals, as he has proved a dangerous small forward. The 20-year old’s last month of form has been especially impressive, averaging 21.5 disposals, four clearances and 1.5 goals per game. The crafty forward is certainly one to watch this weekend.
Jack Steele
Steele has been arguably the Saints most in-form player over the past two months as he has been tasked with run-with roles. It has not stopped the 22-year old from gathering the ball himself, having averaged 25.7 possessions and 7.6 tackles since his 50th game against Melbourne in Round 15. Steele is a hard-nosed midfielder who revels in the contest. If Saturday night’s game gets willing, expect to see the former Giant leading the way for his side.
Jack Billings
After a breakout year in 2017 in which he averaged 23.1 disposals and over a goal per game, Billings has had an interesting season in 2018. He has managed to hit the scoreboard just nine times over his 19 matches this year. But over the last five weeks, Billings has rediscovered his swagger, averaging 25 touches and a goal per game. A brilliant user of the ball, the Hawks will be mindful of keeping the ball out of the 22-year old’s hands.
