The Hawthorn VFLW side were able to fight off a gallant Williamstown outfit on Sunday, winning by four points at Box Hill City Oval.
The Hawks were forced to grind their way back into the game, after a four-goal opening term by the Seagulls saw the brown and gold trail at every change.
The Hawks required some dying minutes heroics from star forward Rebecca Beeson who kicked the winning goal with just seconds remaining.
Beeson, who played for the GWS Giants in the AFLW earlier this year, said her poise in front of goal came just at the right time.
“I’ve been missing them all season and the girls have been giving me a bit of slack for it,” Beeson said.
“But I’ve finally got on the scoreboard and to get the winning couple of goals is an amazing feeling.
“I’m still buzzing.”
The win was the Hawks’ fourth consecutive victory as they remain second on the league ladder.
At the half-way point in the season, Beeson, who originates from New South Wales, says she has loved her time thus far at Hawthorn.
“It’s been fantastic. I’m really happy that I took the chance at it and came down.
“The club have been fantastic and I have felt supported the whole way through, it is a really great culture here.”
The Hawks now turn their attention to Melbourne University, who they will meet at Melbourne University Main Oval next Sunday afternoon.
