The Rundown
Fremantle arrived at Aurora Stadium for this Round 8 clash against the Hawks yet to record a win on the season.
Their opening half performance exhibited a clear desire to improve on their poor start to the season, as they toiled away to take a two-point lead at half-time.
But the Dockers would only kick four more goals for the game.
The Hawks returned for the third quarter with an attitude to bully the hapless Dockers, and as the Hawks pressure around the ball mounted so did their lead as they kicked 8.7 to 0.2 for the quarter.
The Dockers did not give up however, winning the final quarter, but the damage had been done in the third quarter and the Hawks comfortably won their sixth game of the season by 41 points.

The Star
Isaac Smith was the star for the Hawks as he picked up 27 disposals as well as kicking a goal. The hard-running wingman picked up two Brownlow votes for his effort, especially playing well throughout a difficult second term for the Hawks.
The Moment
The turning point of the game was undoubtedly the third quarter, which saw eight different players pile on Hawthorn’s eight goals for the term. The Hawks sudden burst had a clear correlation to the halftime message from coach Alastair Clarkson to keep the ball movement simple and not overuse the ball whilst in possession.
The Coach
“It was a tough, old grind. Conditions were pretty tough for both sides…Freo started the game really well, which was to be expected. But we played really, really well in the third quarter, which was pivotal to the outcome of the game”. - Alastair Clarkson
