MULTIPLE changes could be on the cards for the Sydney Swans for Thursday night’s all-important clash against Hawthorn.
Despite a convincing win against Geelong Cats at Simonds Stadium, the Swans could look to add to their side’s experience to face the Swans.
Former Hawk Ben McGlynn and experienced defender Jeremy Laidler are both in the mix to face the Hawks, after being omitted from the Swans’ side which defeated the Cats.
Laidler collected 19 disposals, took six marks and had four rebound 50s across the half-back line in Sydney’s 97-point NEAFL win on Saturday, while McGlynn was busy through the midfield and up forward with 25 disposals and nine tackles.
"We knew going into (Saturday) that some players would be time limited because we wanted to have the option of making changes (this week)," Swans’ coach John Longmire said on Wednesday.
"There were a number of players who didn't play full minutes and they pulled up pretty well...a number of our players came through that in really good form.”
Emerging forward Isaac Heeney could also return.
Heeney is the Swans’ second-leading goalkicker in 2016 with 17 majors – behind only Lance Franklin (53 goals) and was managed against the Cats.
Heeney and McGlynn both had an impact last time the Hawks and Swans met, with the latter kicking two goals.
The Swans also have Harry Cunningham, Brandon Jack and elevated rookie Jordan Foote on the outskirts of the senior side pushing for an opportunity.
