What better way is there to spend Saturday afternoon than beating the Bombers on the MCG?
The Rundown
The Hawks ground down a spirited Bombers outfit at the MCG in Round 13 last year.
After a tight first half where both sides kicked inaccurately, the Hawks piled on 11 goals in the second half to run away with a comfortable 38-point win, despite kicking 18 behinds for the game.
Paul Puopolo and Bradley Hill kicked seven goals between them, which allowed Jarryd Roughead to star in the midfield, with the key Hawk collecting 29 disposals, eight marks and seven tackles.
The Star
On a day where both sides struggled to find the big sticks, Puopolo made it look easy, kicking four goals from five attempts to go with 13 disposals, three marks and three tackles.
The Moment
Isaac Smith kicked truly mid-way through the third term after some bullocking work from Will Langford and Luke Hodge, which extended Hawthorn’s lead to 21 points and took the wind out of the Bombers’ sails.
The Coach
“We’ve been using him (Jarryd Roughead) in a variety of roles, he’s had 29 or 30 touches today and won some important clearances for us, shared the ball really well.” – Alastair Clarkson
