AFTER missing Hawthorn’s final NAB Challenge match, stars Jordan Lewis and Grant Birchall are expected to be right for Round 1.

Lewis featured in the Hawks’ first two NAB Challenge matches, while Birchall played in the first match, against Carlton.

Vice-captain Lewis missed the Kangarros match with a calf injury, while Birchall hurt his ankle at training leading up to the game.

GM – Football Operations Chris Fagan said the duo would be ready to take on Geelong on Easter Monday.

"They'll both be OK for round one which is the main thing," Fagan told The Australian.

"And they won't be lacking in match conditioning because they have both had enough practice match exposure."

Liam Shiels “could be back anywhere between three and six weeks” after sustaining a wrist injury against the Kangaroos, said Fagan, while vice-captain Jarryd Roughead is expected to return “sometime between round eight and Round 12”.

Fagan said 2014 premiership player Matt Spangher won’t be available for Round 1, as he continues his rehabilitation from a calf injury.

"We just don't want any setbacks, so we're taking our time and he will come back through the VFL when he's ready," Fagan said.
