GEELONG are keeping their options open heading into their qualifying final battle with Hawks at the MCG next week, naming a large contingent of senior-listed players for the club’s VFL elimination final against Essendon this weekend.
The Cats have named 15 AFL-listed players for the game, ensuring their players have every chance to impress ahead of the massive AFL clash next Friday night.
Shane Kersten, Jed Bews and Nakia Cockatoo are among the group which will be doing their best to impress Chris Scott and his coaching staff.
Scott Selwood, who missed Geelong’s clash with Melbourne last week with hamstring tightness, has not been named.
Selwood has played three games at AFL level this season, used predominantly in tagging roles on an opposition midfielder.
Cats’ coach Chris Scott said on Wednesday Selwood would be considered to run with Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell next Friday night if he is available.
Lachie Henderson is the other major injury concern for the Cats ahead of September action, after undergoing knee surgery early last week which will rule him out of playing the Hawks.
