In its third year, the Hawks in Schools program sees the Club reach 16 local primary schools annually to deliver healthy messages to Grade 3 students.

Staff and players are joined by SEDA students to visit Monash primary schools each Wednesday, where they conduct sessions encouraging students to fuel their bodies with the right foods as well as providing tips on physical activities.

Each student is provided a Hawks in Schools interactive workbook, with fun activities which reiterate the messages taught in the classroom.

Championing the program is Angus Litherland, who is part of a video shown to all students during the first session, and visits the schools during their second week.

Want to get involved with SEDA? Applications for the 2015 SEDA programs are now open. The program offers Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to complete their full-time education within sport, recreation and community settings.

The program consists of a challenging theoretical and practical curriculum embedded in the industry. Students have the opportunity to complete their senior secondary education and gain nationally recognised VET qualifications, a Diploma in Sport Development and then follow a pathway to further study or the workforce.
