Hawthorn has accepted the one week suspension handed to Jarryd Roughead by the Match Review Panel on Monday.
Roughead was charged with rough conduct for his bump on Sydney's Ben McGlynn as both players contested the ball during the side's loss to the Swan's on Friday night.
Hawthorn General Manager - Football Operations Chris Fagan addressed fans via HawksTV, saying the decision was made after reviewing vision of the incident supplied by the AFL.
"It was pretty clear that part of Rough's shoulder made contact with Ben McGlynn's head," Fagan explained.
"He had 93 carry over points left from last year's Preliminary Final, so without that he would have got off with a reprimand but with the 93 carry over points it takes him up to the one week suspension."
Jarryd Roughead will miss the Hawks' Round 10 match against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval next Saturday.
