After travelling far and wide, the 2013 and 2014 Premiership Cups have concluded their nation-wide tour with events over the weekend at the Ricoh Centre, Waverley Park.
This tour has been a resounding success with $10,082 raised for the Starlight Children’s Foundation through generous donations of the public in attendance at each event.
Over 10,000 passionate supporters have braved the lengthy queues to get their hands on the precious silverware, but not before they made a small contribution to the Club’s Major Engagement Partner Starlight.
Hawks premiership player Grant Birchall proudly presented a cheque to Starlight’s State Partnerships Manager, Tracey Windley on Wednesday afternoon.
Windley highlighted the importance of this contribution from the Hawks faithful.
“Hawthorn have been an amazing support to Starlight during 2014 by raising much needed funds for the sick kids around Australia. The $10,000 raised will provide over 256 seriously ill children, young people and their families access to all the Starlight hospital programs, including Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Room.”
Hawks CEO Stuart Fox was pleased with the contributions made by all fans and the Club’s continuing relationship with Starlight.
“The Club’s partnership with Starlight Children’s Foundation has been strengthened by the generous donations from our members and fans throughout the Premiership Cup Tour.”
“We are proud to have played such an important role in assisting children and families facing difficult and uncertain times.”
“Thank you to all members and fans who attended Premiership Cup Tour events around Australia. It is a great privilege to run these events, and it was pleasing to see the sheer joy on people’s faces as they held the cups.”
