Hawthorn veteran Brent Guerra has retired from AFL football after playing 255 games with Hawthorn, St Kilda and Port Adelaide.

A dual premiership player, Guerra finally found a home at Hawthorn with Coach Alastair Clarkson who saw his lethal left boot as one of his biggest strengths and a weapon in the desire for success.

He became a favourite amongst Hawthorn fans with his hardness and uncompromising playing style, not to mention the fact he was always reliable with ball in hand, rarely missing a target by foot.

Guerra played his final match just like the 254 before it - with dedication, determination and passion.

He will be missed by all who bleed brown and gold but will be remembered as a champion of Hawthorn Football Club.

Thanks for the memories, Goo.

A fresh faced Brent Guerra began his career with Port Adelaide in 2000.

'Goo' played 65 matches with the Power.

He was traded to St Kilda at the end of 2003.

Always known for his hardness, he never let a knock or two keep him down.

He was drafted by Hawthorn in the 2006 pre-season draft and made his debut with fellow dual premiership player, Grant Birchall.

Goo always made his presence felt on the field.

He was a key member of the 2008 Premiership side and became close mates with now Club Captain, Luke Hodge.

He played his 200th AFL match against one of his former clubs, St Kilda early in 2011 (left) and is well known for his lethal left foot (right).

Goo was again a key member of the Club's premiership victory in 2013.

He leaves Hawthorn as a popular figure who was admired by everyone at Hawthorn.

Thanks for the memories Goo, a two-time premiership hero.
