HAWTHORN Captain Luke Hodge could miss his side’s Round 13 clash against West Coast after the Club opted to challenge his one-match ban.

The Hawks skipper had the option to accept an early plea to reduce the penalty to a reprimand and 93.75 carry-over points, but have opted to challenge the charge at the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.

The incident was cited by the Match Review Panel and, based on a medical report supplied by Carlton Football Club, assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points).

That is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

Given Hodge had no existing good or bad record, however, he could have accepted the early plea to reduce the penalty by 25 per cent to 93.75 points carry-over points and a reprimand.

If unsuccessful at the tribunal, Hodge will miss Hawthorn's clash against West Coast on Friday night.

The AFL Tribunal will sit at 5pm on Tuesday night.
