The Club is saddened to learn long serving Board member and former Vice President, Raymond Vidor passed away on 4 January 2013.
A Hawks supporter since the 1960's, Raymond began his association with the Club via the Social Club before becoming a member of Coterie group, the Confreres.
Raymond's business acumen in the Direct Selling industry saw the Club seek his advice on various business concerns, which marked the beginning of his association and continued involvement in the inner workings of the Club.
His assistance was valued in such a way he was eventually invited to join the board at the 1980 Annual General Meeting.
He joined the board and served at the Club until 1987, when business obligations saw him to stand down. Despite this, Raymond's voice was continually sought out and heard around the Club for various points of business.
In 1994, however, he joined the board again under the leadership of President Geoff Lord and, was appointed Vice President in 1996 when Brian Coleman became President.
Hawthorn experienced remarkable success while Raymond was involved with the Club, winning five premierships and appearing in 13 successive finals series.
To capitalise on the on-field success, Raymond worked closely with then Chief Executive, John Lauritz and Marketing Manager, Peter Becker whose vision in corporate and sponsorship sales ensured the growth of the Club, something that has continued to prosper some 35 years later.
Raymond's expertise and respected business knowledge saw he and his wife Julia become respected and trusted members of the Club's leadership team and too, bond with the players and support staff around the Club.
Raymond was rewarded with Life Membership in 1996 for his valued services.
The Club offers its belated condolences to his wife Julia, daughters Jackie and Katie and son Andrew and their respective families.
