Over 80 competitors along with Hawthorn players and coaches were lucky to avoid a downpour and flash flooding at the 2011 Corporate Golf Day last week.

Held at the Heritage Golf Club, the day managed to go ahead with all teams enjoying their time on the greens before a rain storm hit across most of Melbourne.

The Ambrose competition saw four competition holes around the course including Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive.

Callaway professional Matt Tudor also had a set-up demonstrating the range of the Callaway drivers.

Special guests on the day included Hawthorn Board members Bruce Growcott and Martin Ralston along with Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson.

Players Brad Sewell and Luke Hodge were also on hand assisting with beverage services on course.

Nearest to the Pin winners on the day were Brad Kealey from Mirvac and Shane Keating from Elgas, both taking home a Stonehaven traveller bag and Callaway golf accessories.

The Longest Drive winner was Brian Oakley from Lyppard who took home an amazing prize donated by Tourism Tasmania and Barnbougle Dunes, along with a Stonehaven Traveller Bag to get his clubs safely to Tasmania.

The Straightest Drive winner was Jonathan Rosham from Cygnet, taking home a Stonehaven traveller bag and Callaway accessories.

Runners-up for the day were the team from Elgas, made up of Shane Keating, Claude Samperi, Bernie Pondard and Ross Smith from Hawthorn.

Winners of the 2011 Hawthorn Golf Day were Cygnet, with Jonathan Rosham, Nick Gold, Mark Davies and Jordan Lewis from Hawthorn taking the trophies home.

Prizes on the day were kindly donated by The House of Golf (Malvern store), Tourism Tasmania and Barnbougle Dunes.
