Bupa launch Ride to the ‘G for Round 12
Hawks fans have the opportunity to receive valet parking at the MCG...
Bupa is encouraging Hawks fans and Melburnians in general to find a healthier way to the footy, with the first ever Bupa Ride to the ‘G.
Riders will receive free valet parking right out the front of the home of football.
The first 200 people to register for the ride at BupaRide2theG.com.au will receive a complimentary General Admission ticket to cheer on the Hawks against the Lions.
Hawthorn Coach Alastair Clarkson encouraged Hawks fans to get involved in the initiative, to promote a healthier lifestyle.
“Bupa have been involved in these initiatives a great deal over the last few years and the Hawthorn Football Club and our supporters are happy to help out,” he said.
“I’m hoping that as many Hawks supporters can log onto that website and support this great imitative.
“We’ve got so many elite athletes who are running around on the football field and so many supporters that obviously support those guys - it’d be great if this was an initiative supported by the whole Hawthorn Football Club, not just the players.”
Hawthorn premiership player Shane Crawford is an ambassador for the Ride, and says it’s a great way for families to spend the day together.
“It’s just a great initiative for families to be involved in and (support) being active - it’s all about (building) a healthier you and getting out with the kids,” he said.
“It’s very important because we only get one chance at our health through our lives, that we actually focus in on it.”
Australian Olympic swimmer and Bupa ambassador Matt Welsh also threw his support behind the Ride and encouraged Melburnians to jump on board.
“Fitting exercise into our busy weekends can sometimes be a challenge, and the Bupa Ride to the G gives footy goers the chance to get active while making the commute to the game,” he said.
Riders will be cheered on by a parade of Bupa Troopas as they arrive to their valet parking outside gate 1 at the MCG.
Families can park their cars at various locations before riding to the MCG, including Glenferrie Oval in Hawthorn, W.T. Peterson Community Oval in Fitzroy, Kevin Bartlett Reserve in Burnley or Lakeside Drive in Albert Park.
