UTILITY Shaun Burgoyne is the latest Hawthorn player to show his commitment to the Club by penning a new deal.

A premiership player with former club Port Adelaide, Burgoyne will enter his fourth season at the Club, adding to his 221 game tally.

He celebrated his 200th AFL match in Round 3 this season, and enjoyed a stellar year for the Hawks playing in a variety of different roles throughout the season.

Since crossing from the Power at the end of the 2009 season, Burgoyne has impressed the Hawks with his versatility and professional approach to his game.

“Both on and off the field he’s a very well prepared person, he’s very good culturally in the things he does,” General Manager - Football Operations, Mark Evans told hawthornfc.com.au

“He’s a competitor, is rarely beaten in a one-on-one contest and is just an outstanding role model for our younger players.

Evans says his professional approach, positive attitude and versatility on the field has been a welcome addition to the side.

“He has brought great values and character to the place, he’s a very level headed guy and obviously brought a lot of experience as well,” he said.

“On top of all of that, he’s a very classy footballer and has provided Clarko with the flexibility to be able to play forward, midfield and back.

“You always know you can switch him around in game as well.

“His level of experience allows him to adapt from one to the other very quickly.”

Burgoyne has played 64 matches for Hawthorn since crossing to the Club.
