PROMISING midfielder Mitch Hallahan has joined a group of Hawks players to re-sign with the Club.

Hallahan, a tough inside midfielder enjoyed an excellent season with the Club’s VFL affiliate Box Hill, with his second half of the season particularly impressive.

General Manager - Football Operations, Marks Evans says the extension on his contract is just reward for his hard work and progression across the course of the 2012 season.

“Mitch has been rewarded with an extension of contract on the back half of his year where he started to get himself up and going as an inside midfielder,” he said.

“Mitch is diligently learning his craft and he needs to keep that progression going.
“The first step in that is playing consistently good VFL football.”

Evans said in the second half of the season in particular, Hallahan began to show all the attributes for which he was drafted - the ability to win the ball in close and win one-on-one contests in the middle.

“He’s had a tough run in his first year with an ankle injury and was limited across his second pre-season,” he said.

“In the last half of the year he really got himself up and going was able to show all the attributes for which he was drafted.”

Hallahan was drafted in the second round of the 2010 National Draft, selection 38 overall.
