Langford signs on
Will Langford has signed a contract extension to remain at the Club in season 2013...
A former New South Wales Scholarship holder, Langford impressed the Hawks in his first official season as a Hawthorn rookie-listed player.
The son of former Hawthorn great Chris Langford is described by General Manager - Football Operations, Mark Evans as a player who has a high football IQ.
“He plays the game with great intensity and is a very smart footballer, he understands the game really well,” he said.
“In his first year as a rookie, he didn’t play many games at all, but he’s know got himself to a reasonably strong, fit level of conditioning, but still needs to build on that base over the next two to three pre-seasons.
“We’ve got some high hopes for him.”
Evans says with which Langford plays makes him someone who stands out on the football field.
“He plays with such intensity that you notice him,” he said.
“When there’s a ball there to be won, Will’s one of those players who won’t back away from the contest.
“Because of that, he’s bobbed up with and injury or two, but we notice him.”
He also believes his impressive season with Box Hill and steady progression over the course of the year makes him an exciting prospect.
“He’s going to cause some excitement for the Hawthorn clan because of the Langford name but he’s starting to progress really well.”
