HAWTHORN ruckman Broc McCauley will be out of action for a month after dislocating his elbow in a VFL practice match last Friday.
McCauley was upgraded to the senior list in place of fellow ruckman Max Bailey, who was placed on the long-term injury list on the eve of Round 1 with a wrist injury.
Hawthorn General Manager - Football Operations Mark Evans said that while there is no fracture in the elbow, the dislocation will leave McCauley on the sidelines for a month.
"I didn't see the injury, we were travelling to Tassie at the time," he said.
"He fell on his arm and the elbow dislocated - there's no fracture, there's no great damage there, but that elbow will take some time to stick up again.
"He's in a sling for this week, and he'll probably take another four or so weeks after that to get back to good strength."
Defender Josh Gibson was substituted out of Saturday 115-point demolition of North Melbourne after copping a knock to his thigh in the second term.
He returned to the field after the knock, with strapping on his thigh and was ultimately subbed out of the game.
Evans says though, that there is no real concerns for Gibson ahead of this Sunday's match against Port Adelaide.
"It was a bit of a corky but no great dramas," Evans said.
"He came off, got it strapped up and played another quarter and a bit but we only really took him off because the game was well and truly safe.
"There's no dramas for Josh."
Defender Jarrad Boumann has been missing from the Hawthorn line-up since the Round 6 win over St Kilda, after having his appendix removed.
He is still one or two weeks away from returning Evans said, after surgeons found a hernia that needed repairing.
"Jarrad had his appendix out, and while he was there they found he had a hernia, so he also had that repaired," he said.
"That's actually the thing that will slow him down a little bit, he'll probably be one to two weeks away from playing."
Forward Michael Osborne, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Round 7 win over Melbourne will commence his rehabilitation in the coming days after returning to the Club this week.
Evans said that despite some swelling in the knee, the rehabilitation process begins now in the hope of Osborne making a comeback next season.
"He has found it a little bit difficult to get the swelling down in the knee post the operation," he said.
"He's been back in and around the Club the past week, so he starts his rehab now."
Midfielder Jordan Lewis will miss the next two matches after being cited by the Match Review Panel for rough conduct on North Melbourne's Todd Goldstein in the final term of Saturday's win.
That has opened the door for a number of senior players to step up in his absence, including midfielder Xavier Ellis.
"Someone has to come in," Evans said.
"Xavier Ellis isn't too far away, he played really well last week and Jack Gunston kicked seven goals in the last Box Hill game (so they're in the mix).
"Tom Murphy, Kyle Cheney, they're all floating around - there might also be a couple of young players that put their hand up as well."
