Watch retiree Chance Bateman's speech from the night above.

The biggest and most exciting event on Hawthorn’s calendar went off in spectacular style at Crown Palladium in front of 1350 guests on Saturday 6 October where Sam Mitchell took home his fourth best and fairest award for the Hawks.

Andrew Newbold addressed the room at his first Peter Crimmins Medal as President bidding farewell to long-time sponsors of the Club, PUMA and HSBC, as well as welcoming new sponsors adidas and iiNet.

Captain Luke Hodge and Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson pledged their commitment and dedication to the 2013 campaign.

Clarkson demonstrated the pain and joy the playing group have endured this year with emotional highlights packages and a meaningful speech to reassure the fans that the Hawks will be there in the Grand Final again next year.

A touching farewell speech was given by Chance Bateman who retired this year after joining the Club in 1999.

Cameron Bruce was the only other player retiring this year and the guests were treated to highlights package of the two player’s AFL careers.

It was a close race in the beginning of the counts however winner Sam Mitchell retained his number one spot for majority of the night resulting in his fourth Peter Crimmins Medal. It was a close contest for runner up through to 5th place with midfielder, Brad Sewell taking out runner up and defender, Grant Birchall placing third for the second year running.
