Hawthorn ruckman Max Lynch will make his debut in the brown and gold against North Melbourne on Sunday.

The 200cm big man will be crucial for the Hawks side with skipper Ben McEvoy out for Round 1 due to AFL health and safety protocols.

Hawks’ draftee duo to debut

Hawthorn Head of Football Rob McCartney said Lynch earned the call up after showing some real promise and potential during the pre-season.

“Max is a determined player and has worked really hard to make his way into the side,” McCartney said.

“He’s shown some really impressive form during our practice matches along with our intraclub hit-outs.

“We’re really excited to give him this opportunity to share the ruck duties with Ned Reeves for our season opener.”

Playing just three matches for Collingwood, the 23-year-old is hungry to prove himself as a crucial player and ruckman at Hawthorn.

Lynch will be joined in the side by debutant duo Josh Ward and Connor Macdonald.
