Season summary:
Morrison resumed an important midfield/wing role during the early portion of the season in 2023, before spending several weeks with Box Hill at VFL level. The 24-year-old returned to the senior side in the back half of the year a much-improved player, displaying greater hunger and enthusiasm, which led to some impressive performances. With his strong ability to read the play and contribute across key scoring chains for the Hawks, Morrison finished the season in good form, something he will look to build upon in the upcoming pre-season.
Best AFL game:
Morrison was among many Hawks in playing his best game for the season in the upset win over Collingwood in Round 21, where the brown and gold stunned the ladder leaders by 32 points. Morrison collected 21 disposals, took five marks, and had six score involvements, including two goals of his own.
How the coaches saw him:
"Harry had an interrupted pre-season, he came in into the senior side in Round 3, he played a good block before a period in the VFL mid-year. He then came back towards the end of the season, and his last six weeks were pretty solid. He consolidated his wing, he is a really good player in our defensive structure and he helps us with his communication. He also helped our young wingers like Josh Ward transition through. He is a really valuable leader in our midfield group with his direction and understanding. Harry will be looking to hopefully have an uninterrupted summer where he can build some good momentum going into next year.” – David Hale
