Young Hawthorn star Josh Weddle was a standout for the Hawks on Sunday, earning himself the Round 22 MVP nomination.

The 20-year-old showcased his versatility and running power in his side’s impressive 74-point win over Carlton on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.

Weddle managed a career-high and equal game-high three goals from of defence, two of which coming from set shot, and the other from a magnificent finish on the run from the 50-metre arc, with the perfect curve to sail through the big sticks.

Weddle also finished with a team-high 605 metres gained from his 18 touches (at 100 percent disposal efficiency), which included five inside 50s and five intercept possessions.

This marks Weddle’s second MVP nomination after his first in Round 2 against Melbourne.
