Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge has provided updates on Jack Scrimshaw and Will Day following the injuries they sustained in the team's 63-point win against Richmond on Sunday.
Day came from the field following an incident in the first quarter before being subbed out while Scrimshaw sustained a finger injury late in the game.
Jack Scrimshaw (finger) - test
"He had an issue with his finger. He came off with the doc, and had a dislocation. The doc assessed it and he actually had a little bit more than just a dislocation, he had a bit of a flesh wound as well. He's had to go and have some very minor surgery, a cleanout, and have it re-stitched up. It's now really about comfort and function. He's a test for this week and we'll give him every single minute until this game to prove himself but we'll know more later in the week."
Ned Reeves (back) - test
"Ned's really good. He did a pretty large training session last Friday. He's done some training today and he'll train with the main group on Thursday."
Changkuoth Jiath (calf) - 1 week
"This one's been a little bit more complex. Changkuoth's had a number of sessions now where he has been able to run at about 70 per cent but hasn't felt comfortable progressing beyond that. We had a session on the weekend and we just have not got the progression that we would have liked and what that means is that now with a short turnaround, it's put us in a position where we haven't had a symptom-free session so we're going to have to take another week again and look to get some progression during this week. Hopefully, it feels more comfortable with a session. It's just a little speed bump in the road for us but he'll be back very soon."
Will Day (SC Joint) - TBC
"He has an SC Joint issue. There's been a little bit of a dislocation/ subluxation movement of the bones and the ligaments that support that. The advice we've been given, we've seen a number of specialists, our medical team here is very thorough and we've got all the information we need now. It's really down to function and how he feels and pain and all those sorts of things but again, we've got to get beyond this week's game first. He will start running later this week and start moving which will be great, we can get him going again. Beyond that, we'll reassess the football participation but we need to complete this week's game first."
