Star Hawk Jai Newcombe has claimed his maiden Peter Crimmins Medal, edging out Co-Vice-Captain Dylan Moore and durable defender Jarman Impey in a thrilling count.
After narrowly trailing Moore for the majority of the night, Newcombe pulled through to win the coveted award after polling 19 of a possible 24 votes in Hawthorn’s finals matches.
The 23-year-old finished on 155 votes, just nine votes ahead of Moore (146) and Impey (119).
Fellow midfield dynamo James Worpel and the ever-reliable Blake Hardwick rounded out the top five, with Worpel finishing on 116 votes and Hardwick polling 114 votes.

Votes for the 2024 Peter Crimmins Medal are awarded after each home-and-away match, with three voting cards split between Hawthorn’s coaching group. A maximum of 12 votes can be accumulated by a player after the three voting cards are submitted using the following grading system: three votes to the best player/s, two votes for the player/s who had a significant influence on the game, one vote to player/s who played their role or beat their opponent. On rare occasions a player/s may receive four votes for an exceptional game.
