GM Football Operations Chris Fagan says small forward Paul Puopolo will be “touch and go” for Hawthorn’s clash with St Kilda on Sunday afternoon.

Puopolo suffered a foot injury in the final term of the Hawks’ comprehensive win against the Gold Coast Suns at the weekend, but Fagan said he was a chance to line up against the Saints.

“He’s made some rapid improvement since Saturday, so if you talk to him, he’s going, ‘I reckon I’m a chance’,” he said.

“We’ll wait and see what later in the week brings.

“We don’t play until Sunday, so we’ll give him every chance.”

Midfielder Jordan Lewis was a late withdrawal on Saturday with a bruised shoulder, however Fagan expected he would play after training strongly this week.

Grant Birchall (ankle) and Will Langford (calf) will train this week to push their cases for a place in the side to face the Saints after missing through injury at the weekend.

Ben McEvoy, Matt Spangher and Zac Webster have overcome their respective hamstring injuries and will also be available for selection.
