There’s a bear in there. A large group of Hawks, dollies and Hawthorn nuts, too. The Hawks Museum has a well-stocked cabinet of brown & gold toys and home-made goodies from generations Hawthorn supporters. It has a new one-eyed addition in the form of a much-loved Hawthorn teddy bear.
The bear comes from a good Hawthorn home. Brenda Cheers, one of our recent Glenferrie Gold Life Patrons, saw to his upbringing as a one-eyed Hawk Bear by taking him to Hawthorn games week after week. As Brenda hails from Maryborough, the long train ride each game would show our bear an amazing devotion to the club. He now resides in the Hawks Museum, complete with his scarf, beanie, ‘ticket’ to the footy and his one eye.
This new addition is just one of the items donated to the Club Collection in 2018 by Hawk supporters, players and Friends of the Hawks Museum. We thank all of our generous donors and our many visitors who made the Museum’s year such a success.
If you wish to become a Friend of the Hawks Museum, our 2019 badge is now available. The Hawks Museum will re-open for visitors on Monday January 14, 2019.
