Luke Hodge has revealed that he is considering coming out of retirement to continue his career with the Brisbane Lions.
On Talking Footy on Monday night, Hodge said:
“There hasn’t been an offer [from Brisbane], but there has been a discussion.
“We’ve got to make a few decisions about what’s best for the family… [and it’s a decision I’m not going to rush into.
“We’ve had a couple of chats with Fages [Lions’ coach Chris Fagan] and I think both parties are interested.”
Later on the program, Hawthorn Coach Alastair Clarkson revealed that while he was initially shocked by the revelations, he believes Brisbane’s proposal presents an exciting opportunity for both Hodge and his young family.
“I thought even last week that media was going to be where he’d go… but I think he’s liking the idea of going to Brisbane for two or three years and seeing where it takes him.
“There’s the Hawthorn side of me that says I’d love you to retire as a Hawthorn player… but there’s also the more humane side that asks ‘what’s life like for Hodgey from this point on’.”
