Before becoming Hawthorn stars, Matt Suckling and Luke Breust grew up in Wagga, where they returned on the weekend to compete in a charity golf game.

Along with Sydney Swans player Harry Cunningham, for the second year running Suckling and Breust attended and took part in the Pillars of Strength Charity Golf Day to raise much needed funds to support regional fathers who have a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) or have experienced infant death.

The participants played for in memory of and for the George Maher and Hamish Howard Cup.

The event raised $10,000 for Pillars of Strength, which will go directly to support regional dads and their families.

The Pillars of Strength support programs currently operate out of five hospitals in Sydney and the ACT to provide assistance for dads with ill babies or who have lost their son or daughter.
