Hawthorn Football Club is proud to have officially launched the Hawks in Schools program at Syndal South Primary School.

The program sees nine schools in the Monash region engage in a two-session program aimed at encouraging healthy food choices and promoting physical activity to Grade 3 students.

The Club is proud to have formed partnerships with both the Monash Council as well as Monash Univerisity to help develop and deliver the program.

Monash University students have been integral in the development of the program, utilising the skills they have learnt while studying Education at Monash, Peninsula.

They deliver two interactive sessions within primary schools, focusing on healthy eating messages and teaching kids about different food groups, as well as fun activities getting kids active.

At the end of each session, children are left with a Hawks in Schools workbook, which includes lots of fun activities that reinforce these messages.

Another program partner, Monash Council, have provided valuable content throughout the workbook.

The Club is also pleased to be promoting community partner Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundations messages about organ and tissue donation within the workbook.

The program would not be possible without the funding support of partner Embracia and we thank them for their contribution.
