The Hawks may have gone down to Essendon in their inaugural AFLW game but a number of players still impressed on the stat sheet.
Midfield bulls
Hawthorn Captain Tilly Lucas-Rodd led from the front with 17 disposals, eight tackles and five clearances.
She also had the most inside 50s of any Hawk with six to go with her nine contested possessions.
Jasmine Fleming showed glimpses in the midfield with 12 disposals to go with three tackles, three clearances and seven contested possessions.
Tamara Smith was the leading tackler on the ground with nine to go with her 14 disposals and six clearances.
Versatile duo
Two players also had a switch in positions and impressed, with Tegan Cunningham going into defence and Louise Stephenson spending some time in the midfield.
Cunningham took the most marks of any Hawk with four to complement her eight disposals and six intercepts while Stephenson had 13 possessions to go with her six tackles.
The inaugurals
Kaitlyn Ashmore, Jess Duffin and Akec Makur Chuot also joined the ‘triple inaugurals’ club, playing their third opening game in a club’s inaugural AFLW season.
Sarah Perkins has played in two opening games in a club’s inaugural season with both of those games being under Bec Goddard.
The Hawks next take on St Kilda in their first home game of the season at Box Hill on Sunday, with the first bounce at 4.10pm AEST.
