Hawthorn faced a quartet of injuries across its two games in the Week 6 fixture, with three to remain sidelined, while one will face a test to return against West Coast this Saturday.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett detailed the three injuries sustained in the clash with Fremantle, with Mackenzie Eardley sustaining a concussion, while Kristy Stratton and Laura Stone both suffered syndesmosis injuries.

He also provided an update on the projected timeline to return for Casey Sherriff, who is now four weeks post-surgery on her broken leg, while also outlining the steps necessary for Mattea Breed to be available to take on the Eagles.

Casey Sherriff (Lower Leg) – 3-4 weeks

“Casey is now four weeks post op, she’s progressing really well. She’s resumed on ground running, progressing her speed, she’s introduced some change of direction to her program. And at this stage we anticipate she’s going to be 3-4 weeks away from returning for availability.”

Mattea Breed (Foot) – Test

“Mattea just had a sprain of her mid-foot so some ligaments in her foot, pretty low-grade. We weren’t happy with making her available on a really short turn around, she’s got some steps to work through this week but anticipate she’ll be test and hopefully be available for this week.”

Mackenzie Eardley (Concussion) – 1 week

“Mack just had an incidental contact in a marking contest, she suffered a head knock. We took her from the ground very much precautionary regarding her neck, as it stands thankfully her neck is all clear, but she has suffered a mild concussion as a result of that contact. So she will step into the concussion protocols, she will miss this week but pending her being able to step through that effectively we anticipate she’ll be available the following.”

Kristy Stratton (Ankle) – TBC

“Kristy’s got a low-grade syndesmosis injury, they take as long as they take in many respects, so her return to play date will be to be confirmed. But thankfully she’s improved over the last day or so, we anticipate she’ll need to step through some pretty standard progressions there and her return to play will be confirmed as we progress.”

Laura Stone (Ankle) – TBC

“Laura also suffered a syndesmosis injury, a little bit more high-grade than Kristy’s. We’ve got to have some discussions about best course of action from a management perspective, she’ll definitely miss a couple of weeks at this stage but her return to play will also be confirmed once we get some more information.”
