Thousands flock to Family Day
This years Hawks Family Day was bigger and better than ever, with approximately 8000 people swarming to Glenferrie Oval to be part of the festivities.
The on-stage activities kicked off at 11am with Animal Tracks (snake and reptile show), followed by performances from band Crow’s Feet and the feature act Captain Feathersword. Freestyle dance group Mass Mayhem also proved to be a hit with the crowd.
Other highlights of the day included:
Peter Crimmins medalist Brad Sewell along with coaches Alastair Clarkson, Damien Hardwick and Todd Viney provided entertainment on the dunking machine.
Shane Crawford, Lance Franklin and Trent Croad were a popular attraction at the Hawk Happy Snaps marquee where fans had the opportunity to have their photo taken with one of the players and the 1988 Premiership Cup.
Big man Simon Taylor and teammate Jarryd Roughead helped our volunteers serve up sausages at the famous Hawthorn Sausage Sizzle.
Hawka was out and about giving high-fives and performing his usual tricks, whilst the players won the hearts of both young and old supporters by signing autographs and mingling with the crowd.
Jeff Kennett provided an overview on his plans for the Club for the 2008 season and also shared with the crowd his plans for Hawthorn membership to reach 50,000 in the next five years.
The official Family Day jumper presentation saw four lucky children who won a eHawkTalk competition present the players with their 2008 jumper.
